Post by Kevan SmithPost by Fat ChantsThere could be a vast warehouse of information coming out of this ng
"If we only had a brain"
Man, you missed it. The golden age of this newsfroup is long in the
past. We've discussed everything there is to about Pink Floyd. And every
question you could ever think of asking about them is answered in the
Echoes F.A.Q. All the ROIOS you could ever get are on Yeeshkul. In
short, we've already built the vast warehouse, and now we play inside it
flinging poo.
LMAO!
Still, I dare say.. the juicy stuff is between the lines, and only
visible with Special Glasses
or as my Japanese friends would say, Special Grasses
<DOH!>
I used to do strong clean acid and listen to _Animals_ in headphones
which is the least suspecting album, it seems rather simple on the surface
I spent almost a week after the first time doing it shaking my head in
utter disbelief that what I experienced was possible, and then another
week in utter disbeliefe that Floyd could possibly do that much acid in
a recording studio environment.
It was like holography, they are literally painting extremely
intentional, graphic 3D pictures with the music
The sounds Waters is making in 'Pigs'
Are the actual result of what they are doing to the pig, very very
graphically, in the music.. it is unbelievably hilarious
And then you listen to it the next day and it's like, "hmm-de-hmm-hmm..
who me? I dunno what you're talking about"
It is very hard to explain, but very real, and _not at all_ "you just
hear it that way because you're tripping"
iow, no I don't have more of an extremely overactive imagination than
Pink Floyd, and I probably haven't done more acid..
It is actually..........what shamans in the amazon are said to do with
chanting, that they make visuals appear which _everyone sees the same
exact way_ and have been verified by anthropologists as such, it's
something weird about "psychedelic drugs" and a direct, intentional
connection between sound and specific visual phenomena which has been
studied..
I can't say that Floyd were trying specifically to emulate Amazonian
shamans,
But I'm sure they knew all about this territory.. if they did the
soundtrack for "The Valley"..
A simplified example of what I mean is.. once I listened to 'Us and
Them' while in this state
And I saw the verse lyrics, as they were echoing,
like they were coming from the Queen, as if very deep inside a place,
i.e. as far from and protected from the front line of a battlefield as
possible,
and being handed down a heirarchy of servants one word at a time, as if
on a silver platter, you know, like
"the Queen says, "US" ... "the Queen says "us.."
It was dripping with sarcasm, it was unlike anything I ever dreamed the
song could mean
Very interesting stuff.. how the most colorful orgasmic part of the
record, "Any Color You Like"
Comes after the line, "..the old man died"
when at Last the work iS Done,
one day cLoSer to Death,
the Last Sunlight Disappears.
