How many listeners do you think you are getting? I mean, if anyone is a
fan enough of the band to listen to a show that has nothing but their
music (or solo records) on it then surely they'd have all the music
already?
Go fuck yourself, dickneck.

I probably would if I could, but my bandwidth being what it is, it is
simply not feasible.
At least Craig is not some net kook or troll.
He has a radio show that allows him to play music that he likes.
Big deal.

No, he's just some drive-by honky who never does anything but promote his
radio show nobody listens to or post some piece of minor news about Pink Floyd
nobody cares about, the latter always trumpeted with banner headlines as
though it were the second coming.

Maybe he should get one of those new-fangled "web-sites" to promote his radio
show and Pink Floyd news service. It certainly seems a lot more suited to his
style of posting.

Too damned busy. Between shuttle stuff and transition (Constellation) work
is busy and for some reason I decided I needed to go back to school for a
piled higher deeper degree but I think I'm gonna bag that. Seems like I
have so little time for photography and music. How 'bout you?

I think Craig Bailey's show is one of a dieing breed. There are not too
many shows I know of that is totally dedicated to one thing or one band. In
Australia there are themed shows, eg My Generation with Jono Coleman, but
there is rarely anything that can rival this.

I have to say I have not listened to the show due to time differences but if
a podcast became available I would listen to a show or 2. I think that if
there is 561 shows as of Sept 17 then there must be some sort of popularity
to it. These days networking radio shows seem to be more popular,
especially on a Sunday night.

That's probably just as well, IMO. I think dedicating a whole show to only
one band, given the wide variety of music that's out there to listen to, is a
little silly, even for guys with vast catalogues of music to play like Zappa
or the Dead. To have a show last 561 hours based entirely on the catalogue of
a band that put out, what, fifteen albums?, and then further to only play
music that was released on those 15 albums, ignoring the wealth of bootleg
material out there, borders on the ludicrous.

No, forget "borders". It is ludicrous. Plainly and utterly.

I disagree. I think it's testament that someone out there is listening and
it must be rating for it to go for as long as it has. 15 albums yes. but
there is a lot more material out there than just the bootlegs which is
illegal to put on air anyway. What about the solo efforts of all 5 members,
including Syd?

I think it speaks more to the total ossification of radio programming under
conglomerates like Clear Channel that they can't think of anything better to
broadcast than the same old tired out shit by a rock band that hasn't put out
anything worth listening to in over twenty years.

It's illegal to put bootlegs on air? Even, you know, the FM bootlegs? The
ones that COME FROM RADIO BROADCASTS IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Toss in the solo albums and you have thirty albums worth. Still not exactly a
great number.

Then if you dont like it find something else to whinge about. Sounds like
you have plenty to choose from. Personally I think it's great and that is

I'm still lost on why a show that for many years has only been available to
one city and one city only is touted on an international newsgroup. It's
useless to advertise a product that can't be bought.

Why do you think that is?
It's all about networking. It's cheaper to network or in the US case
syndicate a show than it is to broadcast in just one area.

For example where I am in Newcastle Australia, 12:00 midday - 6pm is totally
dedicated to one show, Rugby League on the weekend and it is done nation
wide and comes from Sydney, just 2 hours from where I am here. Empty
studio, dont need to hire staff except for one who runs the commercials.

As for posting this on a newsgroup....well free advertising is better than
no advertising at all.

I admit that I do occasionally listen to a Pink Floyd podcast on the web, but
it has a much wider playlist than Bailey does.

Anyway I think it's a waste to actually try to communicate with him. I don't
think he's on the same plane of existence as the rest of us, or else he
would've sussed on to the fact that nobody gives a fuck about anything he says
by now.

I have trouble understanding why a DJ posts a list of songs played that can
only be heard within a relatively short radius in one American city.
Especially now with Sirius/XM playing the deep cuts of Floyd, and listening
to anything you want of Floyd on Napster, Connect, et al. If he has a
Podcast, forget what I said. But for the many years he has been posting
this list, I don't get it.

I understand your point of view and agree with it on a limited basis.
However, just as I take comfort in the the fact that there are still
planetariums with Pink Floyd laser shows, carnies selling bootleg
airbrushed Floyd shirts with scenes from The Wall and
overly-impressionable teens getting stoned and shaving their eyebrows, I
also take comfort in the notion that once a week in America there is a
real-live broadcast FM radio show dedicated to Floyd. It gives me heart
to know that today's youth in at least one location can sit on their
roofs drinking rum as they watch a lunar eclipse while DSOTM plays on
their radio, just as I did as a teen years ago. Now I'm going to cry
over how I turned out.

I wear them when I am on my out-of-town weaks.
It occasionally gets comments from pizza delivery guys.
